Even though none of the end of the world predictions have ever come true, the latest prediction that the world will end on Friday December 21 2012 has caught the attention of millions of doomsday and end of the world enthusiasts from around the world.
Thanks to the Internet, the number of people who believe that the world will end on 21/12/2012 has spread like wildfire. In fact, it has been reported that 10% of Americans believe that the world will end in 2012.
Many doomsday preppers have gone to great lengths to prepare for the coming end of the world, with some even building Noah’s Arc replicas.
IN China, a farmer has prepared for the coming end of the world by creating a giant survival pod made out of fiberglass and steel. Supposedly, the pod is airtight, fitted with oxygen tanks, seatbelts and has enough room for around 14 people.
In the Netherlands, a dedicated doomsday enthusiasts has created a replica of Noah’s Arc. It has been reported that the ark is just under half the size of the Titanic. The Arc is currently docked in the Dutch city of Dordrecht.
Doomsday enthusiasts are flocking to the sleepy village of Bugarach France where it is believed to be the only place on earth that will be saved from the prediction that Aliens will arrive on earth on Friday, December 21 2012.
In fact, the mayor of Bugarach has decided to shutdown the city to prevent believers from inundating his town.
One Doomsday Prepper from the United States has built a 700-acre compound and safe house west of San Antonio. Barbed-wire fences and bullet proof walls all form part of his “Safe House”.
At the other end of the spectrum, those who do not believe that the world will end on Friday December 21 2012 are claiming that rather than the world ending on 21/12/2012, a global spiritual awakening (spiritual reset) called the Birth 2012 movement will occur.
Organisers of the Birth 2012 movement claim that more than 100 million people around the world have signed up to the movement and will participate in the “awakening” on 21/12/2012.
The good news is that not everyone believes that the world is going to end. Thousands of couples have booked weddings for Friday December 21 2012. The Marriage Bureau in Vegas has doubled its staffing levels and around 80 wedding chapels have readied themselves for the rush.
Even if the Doomsday predictions are correct, Christmas Island / Kiribati and Samoa will be the first places on earth to witness the end of the world.
